I just joined Dreamwidth because I realized Livejournal was getting quiet. Some say it's because folks have left for here... but more say it's because folks have left for twitter and facebook and/or have just moved on from the long introspective journaling saga.

i know i did.

but i still come back sometimes. Livejournal had the safety that Twitter and Facebook don't, and I need to put vulnerability online somewhere.

Maybe here?

I'm also intrigued by the development community here and want to learn a thing or two about it. But eek! learning curve! scared!

i'm pretty eek!scared! about a lot of things right now. Just moved, changing jobs, navigating an increasingly complex lovelife... I like to curl up in a pile of anxiety sometimes and not look outside at the sun.

But I'm here. Hi. And this post is intentionally public, although I suspect I won't understand why until later.

Love,
S

I get the appeal of Facebook, but I still don't like it. As it has been said in several places, it is rather a lobster trap/AOL thing.

I'm not satisfied with 140 characters.

And I like Dreamwidth's ACL model, and their development model.

Welcome.

I like a lot of things about Dreamwidth - but the thing I do NOT like is that sometimes it takes hours - and I mean hours - to get a post to post. At least, for me. That's getting real old, real fast. But I'm sticking with it, because I can cross-post from DW to LJ, but not vice versa.

And now DW just got a little bit better. Because now you're here. And lo, there was singing, dancing and joyfulness in abundance!

Welcome. I haven't posted much here, because I haven't figured out a way to work two friends pages into my browsing routine... but I know, LJ has gotten quiet. And I'm pretty sure it's Twitter that's the culprit; I know I've stopped posting minutia to LJ because Twitter seems a better recipient. But there are also ethical and business model concerns which are making people switch, though there seem to be syndication tricks that allow people to repost and work around that.
